Choosing the Right Wiring Harness In order to choose the correct wiring harness for your vehicle you first must know how many lights are on the trailer you will be pulling. The number of lights determine the number of amps that the trailer is going to be drawing from the vehicle's wiring system. Standard Taillights usually require 2 amps per light. Clearance and Reverse lights take 0.5 amps per bulb. Some clearance and reverse lights have 2 bulbs. | Lights on the Trailer | Total Amps | Suggested Wiring Harness | | | up to 4 Amps | | | | 5-10 Amps | | | | 10-20 Amps | | | The Modulite Installation Kit (18151) will help with the installation of any Draw-Tite Modulite powered wiring harness. Draw-Tite Modulite wiring harnesses reduce the strain on the vehicle wiring system by drawing power for the trailer lights directly from the vehicle battery. The installation kit provides the wire necessary to reach the battery, the in-line fuse and also the connectors needed to hook up to the battery. |
